How To Read More in 2019
*See the video for this post on my YT channel here.*
In a recent video, I mentioned that my reading goal for this year is 100 books. I've found that over the past few months I've been reading faster and able to get to more books on my list that I've been wanting to read and I thought I'd share some of what I've been doing as of late here.
Follow me on goodreads.com to see what books I'm getting into and my book club for more!
1. Make a Daily Reading Goal
I like to keep two book marks in whatever book I'm reading at the time. One I'll keep for where I am currently in the book, and the other for my reading goal that day. Whether you're wanting to read a certain amount of pages, get to a specific chapter, or finish the book, I like doing this when I assign myself a reading goal each day.
2. Put in the Time
Maybe I'm not necessarily reading faster but I make time to read all the time. I read in the morning, throughout the day when I can, and I also like to read at night before going to sleep. Taking time out to read everyday is key because this makes your pace consistent - you'll get to more books faster.
3. Listen to the Audio Version As Well
A tip I haven't done but would like to do is also download the audio book so you can listen to it whenever. Having the book in an audio format would definitely speed you through a book and I plan on doing some of that this year.
4. Make Reading a Priority
Instead of watching a show or movie, playing a game, or scrolling through my social media, I'll read instead. I'm also not incredibly strict about this or anything. I still watch movies and whatnot but I tend to gravitate toward a book first unless I really just want to watch something.

5. Enjoy What You're Reading
Have you ever gravitated toward a book that made you want to read it and do nothing else? Maybe a story that kept you up longer at night or something incredibly fascinating that you just wanted to learn more about... I like that pull towards books. Maybe it's a series, or a non-fiction book you've been eager to read. Read books you really enjoy.
Don't feel guilty for putting a a book down if you're noticing you're uninterested in it or maybe the book is just poorly written. There's only so much time we have and that time is precious. Enjoy what you're reading and if you're not, put that book down and grab another from your list!
