How To Become A Morning Person

As a former night owl, I thought I'd share some tips on how to become a morning person and also some things I like to do in the mornings to have a great start to the day. I'm also making a new video live on my YT channel about this topic and there's a podcast episode on this as well. Share this post if you find it helpful and let me know what you think in the comments!

1. Pre-Morning Checklist

The night before: do these things for yourself so that when you get up in the morning, you'll thank yourself for it when waking.

-Set coffee maker

-Clean kitchen, living room area

-Go to sleep with a 7-8 window for 'Sleep'

-Set your alarm to soothing music but keep that volume loud (listen to my podcast for more tips and hear what I like to listen to for my alarm).

I function better in a clean space, it's nice waking up to at least. Plus instead of cleaning things in the morning, it's already done. All I need to do, is get ready.

2. Waking Up

I've found it helpful to have things in my morning routine I'm excited to wake up for. They're very simple things but having a cup of coffee or tea, reading, going out for a walk with my do - those small things wake me up in the morning. I also like making my bed right away so I'm less likely to climb back in it.

Another thing I'll find myself doing is scrolling through social media, which I give myself a time limit for so I can move on with my day.

3. Find What Works & Stick To It

Consider pre-planning your morning routine and adjust what works and leave out what doesn't. Changing my routine from time to time is nice when I find myself getting bored with my current routine or wanting to make time for another activity in the morning. Lately, I've been finding some time to read, write and meditate before starting work for the day and I love it. Before, I wanted to start working as soon as I got up and I realized, that's not how I wanted to start my day. I think it's great to set aside some time for yourself in the morning. It makes the rest of your day feel calm in my opinion, especially when taking the time to meditate before starting your day.

Do you consider yourself a morning person? Let me know if you have any tips below!

XOXO
