Meditation & Ep. 2 of This Week

Yesterday I uploaded a video on meditating and it's one of my favorites to do - a body scan. Click here if you'd like to meditate with me and I highly recommend a couple apps as well!

*FYI this post is not sponsored at all, I'm just a fan =)

Calm

This app has been my go-to for months now and I find it very helpful! I honestly just use the free meditations (there are 7 in "7 Days of Calm") and there is an option to pay for more but I haven't yet.

My favorite one to do is day 2 where there's a body scan and I also really like day 5 which is titled, "The Value of Non-Doing". It's nice to take some time out for yourself and not focus on anything but your breath. Click here to check it out.

Insight Timer

This is a fairly new app for me and it was suggested by a friend - thank you Rachel! I'm still getting the hang of it but I'm really enjoying it. Plus there's much more in this app that's free than there is in Calm. Click here for more info.

I really find mediating helpful and first started getting into it from talking with a therapist a couple years ago. After the first initial thought I had then, which was, I don't know what I'm doing, I feel weird, etc. I started to be led by whoever was guiding the meditation and felt extremely relaxed.

I've also struggled quite a bit with panic attacks, trouble sleeping and growing up, was diagnosed with PTSD from being sexually abused as a child and adolescent. I've found that meditating (combined with regular workouts, getting to sleep at the same time and getting up at the same time each day, eating better and eliminating alcohol) has helped alleviate those things.

Now meditating is something I do all the time and it feels like a re-boot. Some days, I used to take a 20 minute power nap if I felt like re-charging for the day but I haven't done that in a while now.

Instead, a 10-20 minute meditation a day instantly makes me feel better, calmer and re-charged for the rest of the day.

Hope you guys try it out and let me know if you found any of this helpful. I think the mind is a powerful thing and being able to re-direct my attention when things become overwhelming helps clear my head a little and get more focused on what's happen right now.

ALSO - A new episode of my podcast, This Week is up! In this episode, I'm joined by my husband, Kyle and we crack open a couple beers as I open up about being bisexual, we discuss the new Star Wars trailer, The Last Jedi and more! Click here to listen to it!

XOXO
