And The New Book Is..
Hope you guys enjoyed reading The Nest by Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney! I really loved reading about the Plumb family and was actually wishing there was more to the story ❤️ What are your thoughts? *Spoiler alert* I'm going to talk about a few of mine so if you haven't read the book yet, don't read through this blog post! I will say that the book for this month is Harry Potter and The Cursed Child - I'm so excited to read it with you guys this month and I've just started on it!
There was a quote that was mentioned a few times in The Nest that stuck out to me. When Simone was talking with Nora about coming out...
"It is not your responsibility to be someone's mirror"
I loved the way she explained what she was meaning behind that idea too.
"You want to see yourself reflected in others. Others - your sister, your parents - they want to look at you and see themselves. They want you to be a flattering reflection of them - and vice versa... but being somebody else's mirror? That's not your job."
I also wished the ending had been different but I did like that it seemed very true to real life. The ending was fair, the Plumb family seems happy even without the nest and Leo. You just move forward and life doesn't always have perfect endings and sometimes you'll never know why things worked out the way the did. & thats ok.
Leo seemed like a complete asshole too. As much as I wanted him to come back to his siblings and at least attempt to fix things, I realized that part of the story was also very true to real life. I appreciated that and I like when fictional stories are true to life situations.
People leave and they won't come back. Some people are complete assholes and you can't change that either.
I am glad that Stephanie seemed happy - she became a mom and I think that's something she had wanted for a while, knowing it or not.
I also liked that Bea began a new story that did not revolve around Leo. And an entire new story! Not Archie! =)
So... those were just a few of my random thoughts. What did you guys think? This felt like a comfort read to me. A light, enjoyable book that kept me thing about it every time I closed the book and started doing other things.
And for this month - Harry Potter and The Cursed Child! I've just started reading it and am having some mixed feelings but am enjoying it! Grab a copy if you haven't already and let's read together again this month!
